Digital music meets the organic sound of the cello. John Derek Bishop collaborates with cellist Bodhild Vossgård of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, using Vossgård´s cello to make new compositions that tell an instrumental Norwegian story, in which the nature and feeling of Norway is expressed. The collages are avant-garde beat music with a lot of atmosphere and soul. Bishop lays down left field beats and digital soundscapes that work together with Vossgård´s virtuoso cello playing.
Bishop is an electronic music artist from Stavanger, Norway. His background is in Hip Hop and Electronica. Bishop draws inspiration from Classical and Jazz music, as well as contemporary electronic music. His method of remixing artists such as Vossgård is similar to collage artists that cut up illustrations and rearrange items to make new compositions.
Texture and timbre of sound is a cornerstone in Bishop´s production and he has previously done remix projects with Indie Rock artist Sebastian Waldejer, The Paper Pilots and Myrna Braza to name a few.
